Japan Nomad Visa Guide

Which countries are eligible for Japan's Digital Nomad visa?

Last checked: 2026-11-06

The official chart lists 51 countries and regions for digital nomads, and 73 for an accompanying spouse or child. We counted these rows ourselves. The chart has no date, and we checked it on November 6, 2026, so confirm the list with a Japanese embassy or consulate.

Why these countries?

Applicants must be nationals or citizens of a country or region that is under Japan's visa exemption arrangements (Temporary Visitor) and also has a tax convention with Japan. A spouse or child must be from a country or region under the visa exemption arrangements. The tax convention condition is not listed for them. That is why their list is longer.
